General Rutherford County History
Connect to online exhibits that showcase the vast resources available at the Rutherford County Archives. These exhibits were produced through a series of collaborative projects between the RCA staff and history students from Middle Tennessee State University. The following exhibits include places that still exist and can be visited today:

History Paved Over
Under the broad title of “History Paved Over,” the following exhibits explore the rich histories of people and places in Rutherford County that no longer exist; these places have literally been paved over by the progress of time. Therefore, we bring these stories back to life through the records that are left behind:

"The Bottoms": The Community Under Broad Street
From a shantytown to a major thoroughfare in the heart of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, “The Bottoms” is a study of dramatic change over time in American history.

Old Jefferson: Rutherford’s Original County Seat
