Medical Oversight is the supervision of the medical aspects of systems designed to provide emergency care in the out-of-hospital setting. Dr. Russ Galloway is the Medical Director for RCEMS. The Medical Director is responsible for medical control and direction of all licensed EMS personnel in Rutherford County. The Medical Director also oversees the approval of standing orders and protocols related to the provision of ALS and First Responder services, The Medical Director evaluates a variety of new or existing programs and activities involving dispatchers, EMT-IVs, paramedics, and first responders as part of an overall approach to system oversight and improvement.

The Medical Director meets regularly with the EMS Director of Education to discuss protocols, training, and related sentinel events. He is an integral part of Emergency Medical Care in Rutherford County.
