Detention/Corrections Officer

Department: Juvenile Detention Center

Starting Salary: $27,800 - $29,850 / Year (commensurate with experience)

 

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform security work associated with maintaining the safety, security and welfare of inmates at the Juvenile Detention Center. Duties and responsibilities include enforcing facility rules and regulations, maintaining discipline, processing incoming inmates, monitoring activities and behavior of inmates, coordinating provision of food, medical care and supplies for inmates, providing courtroom and courthouse security, transporting inmates, preparing documentation, maintaining records, and performing other tasks as assigned. Assignment to Juvenile Detention Center reports to Corporal, Detention.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED; preferred basic jailer certification; supplemented by six months of previous experience.  Must obtain and maintain Basic Jail Certification by attending and passing required in-service training, Chemical Weapons Certification, and CPR Certification.  Assignment to transportation duties requires possession and maintenance of a valid Tennessee driver’s license and proof of insurance.  Requires the ability to pass a Physical Agility test and a drug and alcohol screening. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

Custodian

(4 hours a Night)

Department: Building Maintenance

Starting Salary: $8.17 / hour

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform manual work associated with cleaning and maintaining county buildings and conducting various errands. Duties and responsibilities include vacuuming and shampooing carpets, sweeping and mopping floors, dusting furniture, washing windows, cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash containers, ordering and maintaining supplies, running errands, performing general repairs, or performing other tasks as assigned.  Assignment to Ambulance Services reports to Paramedic. Assignment to Health Department reports to Health Department Director.  Assignment to Maintenance Department reports to Custodian Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: Junior high school education (or equivalent) required; supplemented by 4 months previous experience and/or training involving custodial work and general maintenance work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

Election Workers

Department: Rutherford County Election Commission

 

The Rutherford County Election Commission is in need of election workers for the following election:

Tuesday, November 4th.

Positions Needed:
Voter Registrars (paper style)--pay is $120/day
Voter Registrars (computer style)--pay is $120/day
Voting Machine Operators--pay is $120/day
Computer Set-up Technicians--pay is $170/day--must be knowledgeable enough about computers to set up laptops, connect printers and mouse to laptops, and connect laptops to a network hub. Required training is 2 hours.

Must be at least 17 years old (an excused absence form will be provided for your high school); Must be a registered voter of Rutherford County (unless only 17 years old); Must be reliable and have reliable transportation; Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds (some positions); Computer skills preferred; Cannot be a candidate or elected official; Other restrictions may apply.

Most County employees are not eligible however; teachers and administators at schools are eligible.
