Bilingual Interpreter

Starting Salary:

$12.73 - $13.66 / hour (commensurate with experience)

Job Summary: The purpose of this classification is to perform medical interpreter/translator work in a public health clinic or other related and assigned areas. This position will be part of a multi-disciplinary team facilitating health related communication between medical and support staff and patients in clinic, home and, possibly, other related settings. Interpreter / translator work will primarily utilize both English and Spanish languages. Reports to Interpreter Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in foreign language or related field preferred but high school diploma or GED acceptable; supplemented by 2 years previous experience and/or training involving fluent bi-lingual writing and speaking in both English and Spanish with an emphasis in a health care field; knowledge of interpreting techniques and the professions code of ethics; an understanding of the cultural differences of the two languages is desired; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must be able to pass the competency assessment for medical interpreters currently in use by the Tennessee Department of Health. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

Judicial Commissioner

(Part-Time Weekends)

Department: Judicial Commission

Starting Salary: $11.00 / Hour

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform clerical work associated with General Sessions Court operations and the criminal judicial process. Duties and responsibilities include preparing warrants and petitions, conducting probable cause hearings, issuing warrants, mittimus, and criminal summons, performing data entry, providing information and assistance to the public, answering the telephone, filing court documents, processing documentation, maintaining files/records, and providing general support within the department. Reports to Administrative Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED; supplemented by college level course work or vocational training in office administration and personal computer operations; supplemented by 6 months previous experience and/or training involving office administration, legal/court office work, and personal computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee State driver’s license.

Animal Care Specialist

Department: P.A.W.S.

Starting Salary: $24,165 - $25,942 / year (commensurate with experience)

Job Summary: The purpose of this classification is to perform general/specialized work associated with providing effective and efficient animal control. Duties and responsibilities include cleaning of kennels, cages, and related spaces in the animal holding areas and shelter; feeding and watering animals; inventory of all animals twice daily; supply inventory and maintenance; training new employees; and the overall care of impounded animals. Documents and responds to all inquiries, service requests, and comments received from the public to provide pertinent information on adoptions, ordinance requirements, spay/neuter questions, and any other type of general information. Reports to Animal Control Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED; and one (1) year of customer relations experience supplemented by two (2) months previous experience and/or training involving animal control or animal handling; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Must possess and maintain valid Euthanasia Certification. Must possess time management skills, including the capability to work productively in fast-paced environment, keep focus on several tasks at once, and be prepared for interruptions when needed to attend to more crucial matters. Must be able to effectively communicate knowledge and information to a non-technical audience. Must possess basic computer skills, including but not limited to word processing, email, and Internet.

Election Workers

Department: Rutherford County Election Commission

 

The Rutherford County Election Commission is in need of election workers for the following election:

Tuesday, November 4th.

Positions Needed:
Voter Registrars (paper style)--pay is $120/day
Voter Registrars (computer style)--pay is $120/day
Voting Machine Operators--pay is $120/day
Computer Set-up Technicians--pay is $170/day--must be knowledgeable enough about computers to set up laptops, connect printers and mouse to laptops, and connect laptops to a network hub. Required training is 2 hours.

Must be at least 17 years old (an excused absence form will be provided for your high school); Must be a registered voter of Rutherford County (unless only 17 years old); Must be reliable and have reliable transportation; Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds (some positions); Computer skills preferred; Cannot be a candidate or elected official; Other restrictions may apply.

Most County employees are not eligible however; teachers and administators at schools are eligible.
