Accident ReportsEach accident that occurs within the Rutherford Co jurisdiction will be worked by this agency. If there are serious injuries that occur as a result of the accident Tennessee Highway Patrol will be called to investigate. Reports entered into the system for the year 2008 are 671 not including serious injuries or death. Each report is documented using a state issued form. This form does not require insurance information. Persons involved in the accident should receive owner/driver report. This document must be completed and returned to The Department of Safety within 20 days of the accident. Failure to file this report with The Department of Safety may result in the suspension of driver license. If form was not received at the scene of accident please click here http://www.state.tn.us/safety/forms/owneroperator.pdf. You may then print the form, fill it out and mail it to the address noted on the form (keep a copy for your records). To receive a copy of the accident report you must provide this department with basic information pertaining to the accident such as date, time, location, case number and persons name involved. It takes 3-5 business days before report will be available for pick up. |
