Formal Complaint Concerning RCSO Personnel (PDF) 24 HOUR EMERGENCY NON-EMERGENCY CALLS Poison Control Center Rutherford County |
Incident ReportsIncident Reports are created as a result of most complaints or calls to the Sheriff’s Deptment. There are 1,500 to 2,000 reports received and entered into the system each month. These reports are used for statistics that our agency along with other agencies use for investigative reasons. It also allows our agency to know where the crimes are being committed to focus patrol units in the area. The reports are submitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and then that information is sent on to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The reporting system that is used by the TBI is called the Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System (TIBRS). TIBRS is based upon the concept of collecting data on crime incidents and all of the elements associated with each incident. Having the ability to identify with precision when and where crime takes place, what form it takes and the characteristics of its victim and perpetrators is an indispensable tool for law enforcement. Crime in your area can be found by going to http://www.tbi.state.tn.us/ and clicking on Crime Statistics. It is crucial to provide the reporting officer with complete identification information on a suspect. This is one of the most important pieces of evidence of the investigation. It is very important to inventory all large appliances, electronics, and jewelry. Take photos, and document serial numbers. This will speed up any insurance claims and will enable property to be identified when found. This information will also help in convicting persons in possession of these items or lead investigators to suspects. |
