My name is Lieutenant Alan Garner; I have been working in law enforcement for about 20 years. I started working in law enforcement in the Metro Nashville jail back in 1994.
I began my career at the Rutherford County Sheriffs office in 1995 as a patrol deputy. I was promoted to narcotics detective in 1998. I was again promoted within that division to Detective Sergeant in 2006.
In the fall of 2010 I was very fortunate to be promoted to Lieutenant in the School Resource Officer division, which in my opinion is the best division in the department. I have had the pleasure to work with some of the finest officers and supervisors the Sheriff’s office has to offer. Our officers are dedicated to the youth of Rutherford County and working with kids and teachers has been very rewarding to me.
