Important Dental Plan Information
Please read through the list below for important things to know about Rutherford County's dental plans:
- The Dental PPO Options 1 and 2 are structurally similar but pay out-of-network claims differently. With the Option 1 plan, you must use an in-network dental provider. With the Option 2 plan, you can use an in- or out-of-network provider, but keep in mind that out-of-network coverage is based on reasonable and customary charges and your cost share may be impacted.
- There is a one-year coverage waiting period for any major dental services, which includes but is not limited to root canals, crowns, bridges, periodontal work, oral surgery, or endodontics. You must have been enrolled on a Rutherford County dental plan for at least one year before major dental services will be covered. You may switch between Rutherford County's three dental plans without re-serving the waiting period.
- Orthodontia services are only covered for dependent children up to 26 years of age and have a one-year waiting period. Refer to the plan document for specific orthodontia coverage for each plan.

Dental ID Cards
Your virtual ID cards are accessible through the myCigna web portal and app, but physical copies of your ID cards won't be mailed to you unless you request them from myCigna.

Locating In-Network Providers
If you are already enrolled in a Rutherford County dental plan and have registered with myCigna, you can log into the myCigna web portal or app and choose Find Care and Costs. There, you can search by location, facility, provider type, or provider name.
If you are not already enrolled or have not registered with myCigna, you can visit Cigna.com and search as a guest by following these steps.
