 Officer Bella, Correctional K9

K9 Bella officially retires from The Rutherford County Correctional Work Center

K9 Bella has officially retired from service at the Rutherford County Correctional Work Center (RCCWC). Bella, who is now 12 years old, is a detection dog that was rescued from the Pet Adoption and Welfare Services of Rutherford County in 2019. Having prior experience in Law Enforcement, Bella went straight to work at RCCWC with her new partner and handler Sergeant Adam Treinen.
Bella has been instrumental in the detection and deterrence of contraband at the RCCWC. She has worked diligently in her profession to assist in maintaining safety and security both inside and outside of the facility. She has been invaluable in detecting contraband within the perimeters of the facility as well as vehicles used for transport and work sites. She performed these tasks with pride and enthusiasm and with much success. Her dedicated service has made the staff, residents and public safer. She has provided Rutherford County with five years of invaluable service.
Her presence will be missed at the facility and in the daily tasks that she assisted with. But the time has come for her to live an easier life of well-deserved retirement. “I am proud to have been her handler and best friend for the last five years. Bella is a true hero and well deserving of the rest and love that waits for her in retirement.” said Sergeant Adam Treinen. “After an amazing career, she gets to enjoy her retirement at home with me and my family.”

“Sergeant Treinen and Bella epitomize what a true partnership looks like,” RCCWC Superintendent William Cope said in a statement. “On behalf of the men and women of the Rutherford County Correctional Work Center, thank you, K9 Bella, for your dedication, your commitment, and your service to our agency and community.”
