History Paved Over

Under the broad title of “History Paved Over,” the following exhibits explore the rich histories of people and places in Rutherford County that no longer exist; these places have literally been paved over by the progress of time. Therefore, we bring these stories back to life through the records that are left behind:

• "The Bottoms": The Community Under Broad Street
  From a shantytown to a major thoroughfare in the heart of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, “The Bottoms” is a study of dramatic change over time in American history.
• Old Jefferson: Rutherford’s Original County Seat
  This site is an exploration of a town, lost due to "progress"...but not forgotten...
