Additional Rutherford County Public Health and Safety Members Deploy for Hurricane Helene Efforts
Rutherford County – TN (10/04/2024) Additional Rutherford County Public Health and Safety members have deployed for Hurricane Helene efforts in east Tennessee and North Carolina.
Rutherford County Fire and Rescue (RCFR) Shift Commander John Ingle deployed to assist on the Incident Management Team. Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency Grants and Operations Coordinator Carey Clark deployed to a support position within the Emergency Operations Center.
“Rutherford County Fire-Rescue will always respond to help other jurisdictions, when called upon in their time of need”, said RCFR Fire Chief Larry Farley.
Denise Martin, Supervisor of the Rutherford County Medical Examiner’s Office within Rutherford County Emergency Medical Service, has received orders to respond as part of the combined Disaster Mortuary Response Team (DMORT) being deployed to support operations in North Carolina. DMORT is a team of trained professionals within the National Disaster Medical System who conduct and support disaster mortuary operations in devastated communities. It is anticipated that Martin’s deployment will be two weeks.
“I am grateful for the support of Rutherford County that enables me to join the response efforts,” Martin said.
A total of 19 people have been deployed from Rutherford County to assist in the Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
“The magnitude of this event should have garnered the attention of the Biden/Harris Administration, but it appears the federal government has fallen short,” Rutherford County Mayor Joe Carr said. “The dedication of our Public Health and Safety personnel demonstrates the superior abilities and willingness to help others. We have the best and brightest professionals working in our county.”
