Rutherford County Mayor Joe Carr Welcomes the U.S. Navy Blue Angels
Rutherford County – TN (06/05/2025) Rutherford County Mayor Joe Carr joined Town of Smyrna Mayor Mary Esther Reed, members of the Smyrna Town Council, and other dignitaries at the U.S. Navy Blue Angels media event for The Great Tennessee Air Show 2025 at the Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport, this morning.
The spectators were treated to a coveted preview of the legendary Angels' dazzling aerial acrobatics and maneuvers, which always leave crowds gasping for breath at the precision exemplified.
“I’m thrilled that Rutherford County can host this prestigious air show and offer such a high caliber of entertainment to the families that live in our community, Carr said. “This event provides an opportunity to showcase the exceptional talent of the Navy and contributes a positive economic impact to hotels, restaurants, and many other businesses within the county.”
According to Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce staff, the event this weekend is expected to attract roughly 10,000 people. Carr encourages residents to enjoy the air show this weekend.
The U.S. Navy Blue Angels have existed for 79 years. They were the vision of Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Chester Nimitz, who wanted to boost Navy morale and increase public awareness of the Navy's many talents.
