Rutherford County Chief Information Officer Cody York Receives Murfreesboro Technology Council Award

Rutherford County – TN (11/13/2025) Rutherford County Chief Information Officer Cody York received the Murfreesboro Technology Council Leadership award at The Future of Work Is Human + AI event held at the Fountains at Gateway. 

The award was given to recognize and honor York’s exemplary leadership demonstrating a forward-thinking vision and commitment to innovation that have strengthened the city’s technological infrastructure and digital transformation. 

Nominations are received throughout the year for the annual award. 

 “I’m deeply honored by this recognition,” York said. “Leadership in technology is never a solo effort—it’s the result of collaboration among dedicated teams who care about serving our community well. Murfreesboro and Rutherford County are full of talented people who make innovation possible, and I’m grateful to work alongside them to make government more secure, efficient, and responsive to our residents.”

Mayor Joe Carr commended York. 

“I’m fully aware of Cody’s expertise,” Carr said.  “We are fortunate to have such exceptional talent serving the community.”

York has served as Chief Information Officer for Rutherford County for six years, where he leads initiatives in cybersecurity, infrastructure modernization, and digital transformation.  He also serves on the Tennessee Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council and chairs the Rutherford County Library Board.
