Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office Highlights Open Burning Hazards
Rutherford County - TN (March 14, 2025) Rutherford County Fire and Rescue units responded to a reported residential fire on Halls Hill Pike this evening.
Fire crews arrived on the scene to discover a hot tub and surrounding vegetation on fire.
An Investigator with the Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office (RCFMO) responded to the scene. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that an unattended fire pit in the presence of elevated wind conditions resulted in the spread of the fire.
The Fire Marshal’s Office wishes to remind citizens of the hazards of open burning, particularly in windy conditions. Never leave outdoor fires unattended and always be sure to have a burn permit between October 15 and May 15 each year. RCFMO investigators also note that several home fires this year have been attributed to open burning situations gone wrong.
