Marriage

If you get married during the plan year, you may be able to enroll your new spouse and/or stepchildren in Rutherford County benefits. You have the option to add them to the plans you are already enrolled in, switch plans or networks, or pick up plans for which your new dependents are eligible.

To add your spouse and/or stepchildren to your benefits, you must:

  1. Notify the Insurance & Risk Management Department within 30 days of your marriage at [email protected]
  2. Provide a copy of your Marriage Certificate
  3. Provide the appropriate dependent verification documentation for your spouse and/or stepchildren if you enroll them in medical, dental, and/or vision insurance
  4. Provide the plans and networks in which you want to enroll your spouse and/or stepchildren
