Special Operations Division
The Rutherford County Fire Rescue Department Special Operations Division is a multi-faceted group of FD personnel trained in Hazardous Materials, Swift Water Rescue, Boat operations, Dive Rescue & Recovery, Collapse Rescue, Trench Rescue, High/Low Angle Rescue, and Tactical Medical Operations (SWAT). These teams are highly skilled and dedicated to handling a wide variety of emergency situations. Personnel assigned to Fire Rescue Station 60 make up a concentrated group of these personnel on each shift; however, all RCFR companies/stations are staffed with personnel that are trained and equipped to conduct these special operations allowing life saving efforts to begin immediately on arrival.
The Special Operations Division, in conjunction with the Training Division and other inter-agency partners, are responsible to training and preparing for a variety of circumstances. RCFR is equipped with state-of-the-art tools and equipment to perform these tasks.
