Rutherford County Paramedic Receives 2024 Paramedic of the Year Award

Rutherford County-TN (November13,2024) Rutherford County Paramedic Aubrey Lukiswasawardedthe2024 Paramedic of the Year Award through the Noon Exchange Club Wednesday, November 6.

“Aubrey has been an exceptional member of our team since January 2019 and achieved her paramedic certification in August 2023. Her dedication to serving our community and improving our service is truly outstanding,” said Rutherford County Emergency Medical Service Director Brian Gaither.  “She consistently goes above and beyond, both on and off duty. One of her notable contributions was assembling and leading a team to redesign the layout of our ambulance units, significantly enhancing the efficiency of our supply placement. Her initiative and commitment have had a lasting impact on our operations, making a meaningful difference for our staff and the community we serve. Aubrey’s unwavering willingness to help whenever needed and her continuous drive to make Rutherford County EMS better exemplify the best of what our service stands for. We are honored to celebrate her dedication and excellence,” Gaither said.  

Lukis shared the reason that she became a paramedic. 

“When I was twenty years old, I witnessed a major car accident on the interstate. My friend, who was with me,  was in EMT school at the time. We had the opportunity to pull over and help. I just remember sitting in the car afterwards and thinking, if I could do that for the rest of my life, I would be the happiest person alive.   It’s been seven years, and I am still the happiest human alive,” Lukis said.
