Murfreesboro Medical Clinic (MMC) To Be Out-of-Network in 2025
When an insurance carrier and a healthcare provider enter into a contractual agreement upon negotiated rates, that provider is considered to be an in-network provider with the insurance carrier. Since these contracts are often set for a specified length of time, the carrier and the provider periodically have to renegotiate their contracts in order to renew them.
As of October 1, 2024, Cigna Healthcare and Murfreesboro Medical Clinic (MMC) have not reached an agreement to renew their contract, which will expire on December 31, 2024. If a resolution is not reached by the end of the year, MMC will be out-of-network with Cigna beginning January 1, 2025.
This change will impact all Cigna employer group clients. For Rutherford County, this means that MMC will be out of network with both the Open Access Plus (OAP) and LocalPlus (LP) networks, beginning January 1, 2025. Retirees enrolled in the Cigna True Choice Medicare Advantage plan will NOT be affected and will still be able to use MMC without change.
