On the Job Injury (OJI) Program
About the OJI Program
The Rutherford County Government On the Job Injury (OJI) Program establishes uniform procedures for the reporting, evaluation, treatment, and compensation of qualified individuals who sustain a work-related injury, illness, occupational disease, or other compensable condition arising out of and in the course and scope of their employment.
Pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated § 50-6-106(6), Rutherford County has elected not to participate in the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Law and has established and administers its own On the Job Injury Program.
The OJI Program provides medical, indemnity, and death benefits to qualified individuals for compensable work-related injuries, illnesses, occupational diseases, or deaths, subject to the eligibility requirements, limitations, conditions, and procedures established in the OJI Plan Document.
Participation in the OJI Program also carries certain responsibilities and requirements for employees, supervisors, and departments. Employees are responsible for complying with applicable reporting requirements, obtaining treatment from authorized medical providers, providing required medical documentation, complying with return-to-work requirements, and meeting other applicable program requirements.
The OJI Plan Document contains the provisions governing the Program, including eligibility requirements, covered benefits, reporting and treatment procedures, compensation provisions, return-to-work requirements, appeal procedures, and other applicable terms and conditions. Employees and supervisors should review the OJI Plan Document for more detailed information regarding the OJI Program.
Third-Party Administrator
Rutherford County contracts with a Third-Party Administrator (TPA) to assist with the administration and management of OJI claims and benefits. The County’s current TPA is CCMSI.
The TPA assists with claim administration, medical management, benefit coordination, and other services as directed by Rutherford County Insurance & Risk Management. The County retains responsibility for the administration and oversight of the OJI Program in accordance with the applicable OJI Plan Document.
