Property and Liability

Risk exposure for the County is monitored through the Insurance and Risk Management Department.

Rutherford County is self-funded for property and liability claims, but does utilize insurance products over certain thresholds. A comprehensive insurance program for high dollar claims is in place. The program is reviewed on an annual basis.

CCMSI is the third party administrator for all property and liability claims and the broker for the excess insurance programs. 

Property and Liability claims can be reported by utilizing the Notice of Occurrence Form below.

How to file a claim:

Non-County Employee:

  • Complete a Notice of Occurrence/Claim Form (see link below)
    • Please submit completed form along with the following:
      • Contact information
      • A photo of the front and back of the police report card/slip
      • Photos of the incident, including the property that was damaged and the surrounding area
      • Video footage, if available

 

County Employees ONLY:

  • Complete a Notice of Occurrence/Claim Form (see link below)
    • Please submit completed form along with the following:
      • Contact information
      • Photo of the front and back of the police report card/slip
      • Photos of the incident, including property that was damaged and the surrounding area
      • Video Footage, if available
      • If a motor vehicle accident please review the Owner/Driver Report, see link below, to see if this form is required. It is the responsibility of the employee that was operating the County owned vehicle to complete the form and mail it to the State, see form for instructions. 
      • Your supervisor will determine if post accident testing is required for the incident. Supervisors please contact our office with any questions regarding post accident testing.
