On-Site & Outreach Volunteering

Interested in volunteering at the shelter? On-site (& outreach) volunteers help PAWS maintain high-quality care of the animals and continue life-saving work, through innovative programs and services to the community. There are numerous ways you can volunteer at the shelter. 

Full-Time Volunteering | For Individuals Volunteering Indefinitely 

  • Must be 18 years of age or older. Volunteers under 18 are welcome but must have a parent or legal guardian complete the application and accompany them while volunteering. 

  • Must be able to commit to volunteering 6 hours monthly for a minimum of 6 months. 

  • Read our program information and submit an online Volunteer Application (found below). 

Note: You DO NOT have to be a Rutherford County resident to apply for the On-site/Outreach Volunteer Program! 

Temporary Volunteering | For Short-Term Individuals, Students, Groups, etc. 

  • Must be 18 years of age or older. Volunteers under 18 are welcome but must have a parent or legal guardian complete the application and accompany them while volunteering. 

  • Must be able to commit to a minimum of 2 hours. 

  • Review our program information and submit an online Volunteer Application (found below). 

Note: Rutherford County PAWS does not currently support court-ordered community service hours. However, we do support community service hours for school, including for Tennessee Promise recipients, organizations, classes, offices, etc.
